Digital Europe announces new calls for proposals

The Digital Europe programme has announced a new series of calls for proposals. With these calls, the European agency HaDEA is looking for new projects to enhance the ‘digital transition’ and cybersecurity of the European Union. This article acts as a short introduction to the upcoming calls. The expected opening date is 4 July 2024.

Digital Europe: programme for EU’s digital transition

Digital Europe is the name of a multiannual funding programme, with an overall budget of 7.5 billion euros in 2021-2027. The EU regularly publishes ‘calls for proposals’ for specific projects within the five main objectives of the programme:

  • Cybersecurity and Trust
  • High Performance Computing
  • Cloud, data and Artificial Intelligence
  • Advanced digital skills
  • Accelerating best use of digital technologies.

As we explained in an earlier article, Digital Europe is not a simple grant programme. Interested organisations must be involved in cutting-edge and high-tech digital innovations. They must have the right profile, a convincing track record, and a project that closely fits a specific ‘call for proposals’. They also must be willing to study the official Work Programmes for priorities and strategic criteria.

More details for each call can be found via the hyperlinks. The six cybersecurity calls are expected to run from 4 July 2024 until 21 January 2025. The four remaining calls are also expected to start on 4 July 2024, but with 21 November 2024 as a deadline.
